Mexican Restaurant
This is probably the best overall restaurant in Escondido, considering ambiance, service, and food quality and value. Under the Especiales menu we had the Carnitas and Cochinita Pibil and both were excellent, especially the Cochinita Pibil which is a nice diversion from standard Mexican fare with a Mayan twist. Probably the worst Mexican food I’ve had since living in Southern California. The tamales taste nothing like tamales barely had any chicken in it, taquitos were edible but dry, and personally it just was not worth the calories.
Food was good. But ordered beans dip, finished the first basket of chips with salsa and they charged gor a second basket so we could eat the bean dip. Sorta ridiculous. Also ordered multiple drinks snd entrees so not sure about the logic to nickel and dime us. Never happened at a Mexican restraint to me before.
